Local nominations now open for
King Charles III coronation medal

NANAIMO – Nominations are now open for the King Charles III Coronation Medal, which honours the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. MP Lisa Marie Barron is reaching out to the community to nominate recipients for this medal.

As the MP for Nanaimo – Ladysmith, Barron is participating as a nominating partner with the Governor General of Canada. She will have the opportunity to present up to 20 medals to recipients from our region and is inviting the public to nominate outstanding Nanaimo–Ladysmith community members who have made a difference for consideration for a medal.

“Every day, Nanaimo – Ladysmith residents are making a positive impact locally, nationally and on the global stage,” said Barron. “Many of these individuals fly under the radar, never expecting to be recognized for their hard work and dedication. These medals provide a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on this work and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of the people in our area.”

To be eligible, candidates must have made significant contributions to the country, a province, territory, region, or community or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada. For Nanaimo—Ladysmith, with particular emphasis will be given to our local unsung heroes who have never received a national honour for their efforts.

Consideration will also be given to those who highlight themes that both King Charles III and Canadians hold dear, including service to others, protection of the environment, youth empowerment, and the importance of diversity.

“I look forward to receiving nominations and bringing more attention to our communities and and the people who make Nanaimo-Ladysmith the wonderful place we call home”

Nomination forms should be filled out and sent to by midnight on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Nomination forms and information about eligibility and the process can be found on MP Barron’s website here:
