Amateur movie maker spreading the word about Nanaimo
Scott Lissa is all about sharing – everything he learns about Nanaimo. He moved here from Calgary more than a decade ago, and since that time he’s been convincing people to move here, and he’s going to great ends to get out the message about our Pacific paradise and its amenities.
And what better way than to show put it on film for his real estate clients? Lissa is a realtor with EXP Realty in Nanaimo and has produced a number excellent videos on Youtube.com to get that message out.
It about more than real estate, Scott is indulging a passion for movie production. It’s all spare time, he says. He’s made four videos telling Nanaimo stories thus far but has others that were part of his learning process. He’s planning to make a video a week for the foreseeable future. He spends his late evenings editing and there are more being filmed all the time.
Scott’s videos focus on golf, beaches, historical points of interest (heritage houses), commuting to Vancouver island, farmers' markets and more. He choses topics often raised by people looking to relocate to Vancouver Island, and they always ask for pictures and videos.
“I was in Parksville giving a walking tour to a family from Winnipeg during an evening sunset. So I decided it made more sense to have a data base of videos than constantly repeating myself. I relocated here from Calgary in 2008 and love to share all the things I discover.
He loves creating even though he’s had no formal training. It’s a hands-on learning process, and the results show he’s a good learner. See Scott’s videos HERE

It's easy for politicians, they can spend what they want because somebody else will pay for it – the taxpayers.
Well done Merv & Marg
Nanaimo is still a good place, but the powers that be have let it run to ruin. This is sad to see.
i agree it is the volunteers in Nanaimo that make it such a wonderful place to live. I've lived all over B. C. and came back to Nanaimo to raise my kids and join the family business. Never any regret
Thank you Mr. Peckford for voicing concerns that many Canadians share, but remain silent.
