Talking vaccine passports; what about our rights and freedom?
Many Canadian,s according to an IPSO Poll, support vaccine passports. The prime ministerr and the minister of health are talking it up. Here’s a headline from CTV News —
"Hajdu says Canada will come up with 'certification' to allow COVID-clear Canadians to travel again"
And the PM from CTV News
"Vaccine passports 'to be expected', but Canada not ready to set terms yet: Trudeau"
Meanwhile the U.S. Federal Government through its President said they will not get involved with the issue. From that CTV news report: “U.S. President Joe Biden's administration has said that it will not push for mandatory vaccination credentials or a federal vaccine database because of sensitive legal and political issues.”
I don’t think many realize how such efforts violate our basic rights.
2 Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
(a) freedom of conscience and religion;
(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
(d) freedom of association.
Mobility of citizens
6 (1) Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in and leave Canada.
Legal Rights
Life, liberty and security of person
7 Everyone has the right
to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice.
I have sent an e-mail to the Minister of Heath in Ottawa opposing such a measure. Her e-mail is hcminister.ministersc@canada.ca.

It's easy for politicians, they can spend what they want because somebody else will pay for it – the taxpayers.
Well done Merv & Marg
Nanaimo is still a good place, but the powers that be have let it run to ruin. This is sad to see.
i agree it is the volunteers in Nanaimo that make it such a wonderful place to live. I've lived all over B. C. and came back to Nanaimo to raise my kids and join the family business. Never any regret
Thank you Mr. Peckford for voicing concerns that many Canadians share, but remain silent.
